Intrepid Banff canoeists

Intrepid Banff canoeists

Six intrepid Banff canoeists have gained their two-star awards following an assessment evening in Portsoy. The testing took place in and around Portsoy harbour, and the paddlers were tested on their paddling skills, capsizing and rescues. Swimming in the cold water of the harbour was worth it in the end as everyone passed. The experience gained during club paddles every Thursday evening certainly proved worthwhile.

Paddlers find Skye at rainbow’s end

Paddlers find Skye at rainbow’s end

DEVERON Canoe Club explored the picturesque coast of Skye during its latest sea-kayaking trip.

Eight members of the club – Alan Meikle, Andy Robertson, Charlie Clark, Fiona Nairn, Iain Brook- er, Lorna Taylor, Shirley Gordon and Tony Jannetta – spent almost three days taking in the sights and sounds of the coastline.

On the first day, the group visited Broadford Bay and the sound between Scalpay and Skye, navigat- ing relatively sheltered waters. The day ended with them circumnavigating Guillaman Island, finishing off at Broadford Pier.
