Young and not so young make waves on River Spey

DEVERON Canoe Club undertook its annual River Spey tour in the summer which involved a paddle from Grantown down to Fochabers over two days.

The trip met with low water levels and exceedingly slow moving water.

Twelve intrepid club paddlers, aged from 10 to 74, started out from Grantown. By the time they reached Aberlour in the evening, they had been paddling for nine hours and had successfully negotiated all the main rapids that the mighty River Spey had to offer.

Paddle party hit the coast

Coigach Head, Wester Ross

Deveron Canoe Club members, pictured here near Colgach Head, spent a long week exploring the Wester Ross coast near Ullapool. Based at Ardmair campsite, the party explored the coastline and the Summer Isles from Achiltibuie, in fine weather and calm sea conditions which allowed close-quarter exploration of the area’s spectacular coastal caves.
